have a lovely weekend.

this weekend i am excited to have my parents over for an al fresco dinner (i'm making slow-roasted blts and an oreo icebox cake--yum!). i'm also planning to do some decorating around the house and work on prepping our guest room for some upcoming visitors. and, of course, i hope to squeeze in a couple strolls with my littles. what are y'all up to this weekend? hope it's great, and here are a few links i'm loving this week:

seven things girls talk about over drinks.

organic shampoo.

parents magazine's best blog for 2013.

the sexiest maxi dress.

a lush private garden--take me away!

how french moms raise bébés on the cheap.

summer in the south.

i'm dying to attend the national stationery show.

this kitchen makeover is amazing.

kate spade's city guides launch today.

a gorgeous civil ceremony in france.

homemade nutter butters.

a no-sew way to take your kids clothes from winter to summer.

restore vs. rehabilitate: on being a historic homeowner.

peaches in prosecco.

and things to worry about--a letter from f. scott fitzgerald to his 11-year-old daughter.

white summer dress

there is nothing prettier than a crisp white summer dress. the combination of sun-kissed skin, warm weather and all that creamy color is simply irresistible. some of my faves can be found here, here and here. wouldn't you just love to stuff a suitcase full and jaunt off to the tropics?

p.s. you can also find gorgeous, luxe versions here and here.

my 6-week-old baby

at six weeks old, beau is more of a doll than ever. she recently began smiling and, needless to say, we are totally taken. her new favorite things include her snuggabunny swing, bath time and her brother's giggles.

the great gatsby: behind the scenes

it's no secret that i am wild about the great gatsby (the gold hat., after all, is a take on the novel's epigraph), so--needless to say--i have been anticipating the release of baz luhrmann's adaptation for some time now. i haven't made it to the theaters yet, but i was super excited to catch a few behind the scenes glimpses and read a most intriguing interview with the film's production and costume designer (she is also the wife of mr. luhrmann). you can find the full interview and photo gallery here.
